The Academy for Autism
Our Philosophy At the Academy for Autism, we believe every child deserves to be treated with dignity, understood as an individual, and supported in a structured, nurturing environment. We provide individualized instruction in small group settings with consistent support, focusing on academic growth, communication, social-emotional development, and independent living skills. Through collaboration with families and therapists, we work to ensure each student is supported throughout the day and given the tools needed to grow in confidence, independence, and overall success.
The Academy
Established in 2005 by a parent of two children with autism, the Academy was founded with a mission to improve the quality of life and independence of children with autism. We are dedicated to providing families in Central Florida with access to a structured, supportive, and specialized educational environment that meets the unique needs of each student while promoting growth, confidence, and long-term success.
Our Mission
Our primary mission is to provide an affordable educational alternative outside of the public school system for low- and middle-income families with children who have special needs. We serve students whose individual needs may not be fully met in traditional settings, and we are committed to supporting their growth through a structured, supportive, and individualized approach. We take pride in the meaningful social and academic progress our students make as they build confidence, independence, and essential life skills. Our Staff The Academy for Autism is made up of a dedicated team of professionals committed to supporting students with diverse learning needs. We specialize in working with individuals on the autism spectrum and provide a collaborative, team-based approach to student development. Our staff includes lead teachers and support staff who work closely together to provide consistent, individualized support within the classroom environment.
Our team brings years of hands-on experience working directly with students with autism and has participated in ongoing professional development and training. This includes training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques and strategies, effective classroom management, and crisis intervention through PIVOT Crisis Intervention (formerly known as PCM). These trainings help ensure our staff are prepared to support students safely, consistently, and effectively throughout the school day.
Our team works in coordination with speech, occupational, and physical therapists to ensure that each student’s goals are reinforced throughout the classroom environment. We take pride in our collaborative approach with families, educators, and therapists, which allows us to provide a well-rounded and effective program.
This teamwork and consistency across all areas of support is what helps our students make meaningful progress in academics, communication, social skills, and independence, empowering them to reach their full potential.
